DEVOHOME Wins PETA Vegan Award 2025 for Hemp Fur Pillow
New DEVOHOME award – the company’s product is among the winners of the PETA Vegan Awards 2025
On March 28, 2025, Stuttgart, the industrial and innovation centre of Germany, hosted an event to celebrate vegan products organised by PETA, the animal rights community. Devohome is among the winners in the category “Household goods”. We are proud that the Devohome hemp fur (r) pillow was recognised as the best decorative pillow of the year by PETA!
This category was open to companies, brands and designers who do not use materials obtained through cruelty to animals. These include leather, fur, silk, wool, down, etc. Instead, they use innovative, often vegetable materials: cork, hemp, recycled algae, etc., as well as recycled plastic.
About DEVOHOME’s Hemp Fur Innovation
Hemp fur (r) by DEVOHOME is a worthy alternative to animal and synthetic fur. It is made from hemp fibres attached to a cotton base and resembles raw sheepskin in its properties and looks.
The organisers of the competition called Ukrainian hemp fur a special material. Unlike its animal counterpart, hemp fur (r) can be washed in a washing machine. It does not smell of chemicals, but slightly smells like fresh grass. It is also mould resistant and has antibacterial properties, making it hypoallergenic.

Sustainable textiles innovations: recycling and vegan lifestyles are gaining ground in more and more areas
This year, the PETA Vegan Award competition recognised 9 winning products among vegan household goods, including bed linen that resembles silk but is exclusively of plant origin, children’s toys, modular shelves, an armchair, a table lamp, and more.
It is symbolic that the PETA Vegan Award 2025 competition was held in Stuttgart, as this city, although considered the industrial centre of Germany and has always been at the forefront of new technologies, is known for its parks and botanical gardens. That is, innovations should work to preserve the environment.
What new materials were presented at this year’s competition, besides hemp fur?
- Organic cotton muslin. It is incredibly soft, and thanks to the thermoregulating properties of muslin, bed linen made from it cools in summer and provides cosy warmth in winter.
- Vegan material based on algae. It is flexible and compostable. It is an excellent ethical alternative to leather that can be used, for example, in the automotive and fashion industries.
- The cork coating is carpet-like, eco-friendly and easy to care for.
- It’s great that the decorative pillow made of hemp fur (r) by the Ukrainian brand has been recognised as meeting the new standards for innovative vegan materials. According to the organisers of the competition, stylish living is possible without materials of animal origin, and Devohome proves it.

How the PETA Vegan Award 2025 protects animals
If you choose to avoid animal-based materials for ethical reasons, that’s commendable. But animal components can be invisible at first glance. For example, glue often contains casein, leather or bone. Beeswax or shellac may have been used to finish wooden surfaces. Furniture upholstery or fillings may contain wool or fluff.
If a product is marked with the PETA-Approved Vegan logo, you can be sure that it does not contain materials obtained through cruelty to animals.
Thus, by working with manufacturers and designers, PETA, a globally recognised organisation, educates consumers about eco-friendly and ethical fashion.
